The AFNOR Group is strengthening its position in the energy efficiency market by extending its range of B2B solutions to include the measurement and verification of energy performance commitments.

Good for the wallet, good for the planet, the theme of energy savings has infiltrated all sectors of the economy. Many players – public and private – are convinced of the need to improve their energy efficiency and are taking action. But what tools can they use to measure and verify the gains they’ve made? The market is looking for clear offers with guaranteed value, from players ready to commit to a result, with objective, documented verification of the gains generated.

The AFNOR Group leverages its expertise in voluntary standards – a guarantee of progress, quality and trust – to offer its customers (companies, service providers, local authorities, financial organizations, etc.) new solutions enabling them to increase their skills and make their improvement commitments visible and credible.

Training in IPMVP and ISO standards

AFNOR Compétences, France’s No. 1 provider of professional training in management systems, is expanding its range of certified training courses in energy performance measurement and verification (M&V), based on the IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol), the benchmark methodology in this field, and on the latest international standards published by ISO on the subject.

In partnership with the American EVO (Efficiency Valuation Organization), AFNOR Compétences is now offering players called upon to implement energy efficiency projects the opportunity to round out their expertise with a three-day M&V cycle, punctuated by a half-day examination awarding the CMVP (Certified Measurement and Verification Professional) certificate. ” With this new offering, the AFNOR Group completes its range of expert certification training courses, in response to the reform of professional training deployed in France with the law of March 5, 2014 and its decree of June 30, 2015,” comments Pascal Prévost, CEO of AFNOR Compétences.

Energy performance “Verified by AFNOR Certification

But organizations themselves need expertise and guarantees to ensure that the energy efficiency projects they launch, or underwrite with specialized intermediaries, will bear fruit. The AFNOR Group is mobilizing its subsidiary AFNOR Certification to offer project owners and the design offices working with them independent verification that the progress announced is feasible and/or has been achieved.

This is the spirit of the new “Verified by AFNOR Certification” service. It certifies, through third-party verification, that the measures and actions implemented meet energy performance targets and reference standards. More specifically, this service validates the measurement plan envisaged, verifies the level of performance achieved at the end of the project, and ensures that the results obtained are objective and communicable. ” With this mark of trust, you kill three birds with one stone. It’s useful for securing your investment or fundraising.says Béatrice Poirier, AFNOR Certification Product Manager.

Breakthrough for ISO 50001

Marketed by the Group’s subsidiaries, these new M&V offerings are supported across the board by AFNOR Energies, an entity created in 2013 to federate and develop the expertise of the AFNOR Group’s various businesses around voluntary standards dealing with energy efficiency. As a qualified design office with CMVP-certified personnel, AFNOR Energies provides energy efficiency services: strategic energy analyses, energy audits, definition of measurement plans, etc.

Among the voluntary standards that provide guidelines for improving energy performance, and that AFNOR is developing on behalf of France at international level, are ISO 50015, ISO 50047 and ISO 17741, in which the IPMVP is cited, as well as ISO 50001, which economic players are beginning to take on board, as evidenced by feedback from France and abroad”, comments Catherine Moutet, Head of AFNOR Energies.

With the help of its regional delegations, the AFNOR group is currently organizing a ” AFNOR energy performance Tour de France “, during which it will present its new M&V solutions for making energy-saving projects sustainable and, above all, successful.
