As Nouvelle-Aquitaine becomes a benchmark region for innovation in medical devices, the Allis-NA skills cluster and AFNOR combine their network and expertise. The aim of this new partnership is to help companies work together more effectively and make a difference in the marketplace, using voluntary standards.

The new European Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745 came into force on May 26, 2021. To implement these requirements and secure the marketing of their medical devices, healthcare professionals can rely on CE marking (mandatory) and ISO 13485 certification (recommended). With this in mind, the ALLIS-NA regional healthcare skills cluster and AFNOR are keen to democratize voluntary standardization as a way for innovative companies to gain access to the healthcare market.

Competitiveness is key

ALLIS-NA and AFNOR are joining forces on a number of common missions: to raise awareness of the design and use of voluntary standards as business intelligence tools, to make it easier for regional healthcare companies to understand and apply standards, and to provide information and access to key standards in their region. By initiating standardization initiatives for new approaches and technologies, healthcare companies in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region are giving themselves the means to set standards for the sector, play a part in technical choices for the industry, and anticipate and monitor market needs by meeting all players in the value chain,” explains Muriel Lacroix, regional delegate for the AFNOR group in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (3rd from left in photo). ” Nouvelle-Aquitaine is France’s leading region for e-health and third for implantable medical devices. We can’t build the healthcare industry of tomorrow, in France and internationally, without the voices of the 3,000 or so specialist companies in our region. Let’s hear them! And because it involves consultation and co-construction, standardization makes this possible. “she adds.

An active commitment

  • an innovation support service, to advise them on the prospects for standardization actions to support the development of their project
  • privileged access to a business advisor based in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, ready to listen to your needs
  • numerous information workshops.
