Polytech Orléans is the first engineering school in the Centre region to achieve ISO 9001 certification
ISO 9001 certification is the first reward after two and a half years of mobilization by administrative staff, technicians, teacher-researchers and students to deploy the approach.
ISO 9001 is the most widely used management tool in the world for organizations seeking an effective management system. Polytech Orléans has chosen it to improve the way it operates, in order to constantly improve the satisfaction of its students and stakeholders. By strengthening its organization, the school will also be able to free up time and resources for ambitious new projects (opening new courses, developing entrepreneurship, etc.).
Christophe Léger, Director of the Polytech Orléans engineering school, explains: “The quality of the training provided by the engineering school has been attested for many years by the accreditation issued by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur. It was very important for the school to complement this label with ISO 9001 quality certification, which is also widely used by the future employers of most of the school’s engineering graduates. By adopting corporate reflexes for the day-to-day running of the school, quality practices are disseminated as soon as engineering students arrive at the school. As opposed to “Do as I say, not as I do”, this is a way of preparing our engineers to be effective as soon as they join the corporate world. This approach is one of the many pedagogical innovations implemented by the school to guarantee the success and immediate employability of its engineering students, as attested by the company directors and HR managers who massively hire Polytech Orléans engineers”.
For Éric Blond, the man behind the project “The quality approach is the formalization of the (Deming) wheel, combined with the transposition of the researcher’s scientific rigor into the pedagogical and administrative organization, i.e. the implementation of measures (and their calibration) to ensure the supposed causal link between the action undertaken and the end in view. This quasi-analytical dimension is enriched in its application to a higher education establishment by an exceptional human dimension. For me, implementing the quality approach at Polytech Orléans was like putting down on paper a score that had long been played by talented musicians, who only needed a common ear and a conductor’s baton to move from talent to excellence.
The AFAQ ISO 9001 certificate issued by AFNOR Certification confirms Polytech Orléans as one of France’s leading engineering schools.
