A book for success in the UK and Ireland
Niamh Browne-Tixier and Laure Dykstra draw on all their experience in a new book designed to help those who communicate, negotiate and work with partners in the UK and Ireland.
With 300,000 French nationals established in the UK, and over 3,000 French subsidiaries, the UK is the leading European country for French companies, and second in Europe (behind Germany) in terms of sales. Every year, many young – and not so young – people cross the English Channel to work in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland. This book is a direct response to their needs, as well as those of French professionals who work with British and Irish companies on a daily basis. It details and analyzes the cultural specificities of the UK and Ireland, and reminds us of the fundamentals of both countries.
HAVE THE RIGHT REFLEXES
The authors present the essential institutional, geographical, historical and sociological framework. The global context is set out, followed by a look at corporate culture through concrete examples of organization, working methods and communication. How do you introduce yourself or greet someone? What formalism is expected in writing? How to handle humor? This book bridges the gap between history, culture and the world of business negotiation.
Enriched with recommendations and advice, as well as testimonials from professionals, this book provides the tools and references needed for cultural adjustment to optimize relations with the British and Irish.
