Phthalates and SVHC: towards more robust screening and analysis methods

On April 24, 2024, AFNOR invites you to discover the benefits of voluntary standards in making identification and analysis methods more reliable.

More and more regulations are being introduced to limit the impact of chemical substances in products on human health and the environment. These chemical substances are found in toys, textiles, paints, electronics, coatings, building materials and more. Despite the requirements of the European REACH regulation, and given the globalization of production, methods of identification, sampling and analysis are proving inadequate and inconsistent in practice. Today, we are faced with the rapid proliferation of substances of very high concern (SVHC) and phthalates in everyday consumer products.

To remedy this situation, two new European voluntary standards are in preparation. They will harmonize screening protocols for substances of very high concern, and propose a common method for determining certain types of phthalates at lower cost. Find out more about this work at our web conference on April 24, 2024! Manufacturers of toys, textiles, paints, coatings, building materials, electronic components, analysis and testing laboratories… Now’s the time to get involved! Because tomorrow’s standards are being prepared today… And certainly not without you.

This free event will be hosted by Laura Dottistandards project manager at AFNOR, with Sam Abdelhafizwho is in charge of chemical product control at the French Ministry of Ecological Transition’s General Directorate for Risk Prevention (DGPR), and Catherine Colinmanager of the environment and health program at the Centre technique industriel de la plasturgie et des composites.
